CONTROL & DESIGN STANDARDS: AIRFLOW

Although the concentration of allowable particles is usually the defining cleanroom characteristic, there are also several other criteria to consider. These include temperature settings (usually 65 to 75 degrees) and humidity levels.

Humidity levels below 30% provide little moisture to dissipate static electrical charges, and they accumulate on furniture, equipment, and people. Besides damage to sensitive electronic components, contaminants are also attracted to these charges. Usually, however, merely adjusting the relative humidity setting of the air handling system will provide sufficient control.
